We got to the Westgate hotel yesterday afternoon late,
we went to the strip and retrieved our tickets to
Jersey Boys
at the Paris Hotel and Casino and ate supper at "In and
Out" Burgers.
We had checked out a few of the
menus at Westgate and the Paris Hotel. Both were
terribly expensive. I guess the old days of great
meals for five bucks are gone.
The Westgate was recommended to me by a friend in
Mooresville. When he had stayed there it was the
Las Vegas Hilton, then the Las Vegas Hotel and just
recently a resort chain known as Westgate had purchased
it. |
We
slept in Thursday morning and then left the strip and
found a Marie Calender Restaurant. We ate
a brunch of croissants with eggs, cheese and bacon.
I also got coffee, the coffee in our room was with a Keurig Coffee Maker but the charge to use it was $3.50
per cup. There were two bottles of water in our
room when we got there which we drank and noticed this
morning that the charge was $4.00 each.
After breakfast we drove to the Paris hotel and parked
the car for the day (parking was free) This is
where the Jersey Boys Show was going to be.
The inside was designed to make you feel you were on a
Paris avenue at night. Complete with tons of shops
and gambling venues. |
We
spent the afternoon walking around the different
Hotel/Casino lobbies sightseeing. Outside the
Paris there was a replica of the Eifel tower with a
restaurant on the top. |
The
Venetian had Canals with gondola rides
and tons of shops and gambling
venues, they all had tons of shops and gambling venues. |
Treasure
Island had ships outside. |
Caesar's
Palace had a replica of the Trevi Fountain |
Bellagio
had fountains that put on a show. |
And,
of course, this was Las Vegas and outside a few of the
Casinos were young women in various states of undress
available to have your picture taken standing with them. |
I
was told that because so many other states now have
legalized gambling with Casinos, Vegas has seen somewhat
of a slump and in an attempt to increase it's business
it is trying to appeal more to families on vacation.
So, instead of scantily clad young women, this casino
had two people outside in transformer costumes and the
casino next door had Mickey and Minnie Mouse. |
We
walked off the strip and ate dinner at Chili's whose
menu was the same as if it were in Statesville.
Then we went to Jersey Boys. It was a lot like the
movie and the music was great! |
