On
the fourth day we left Yellowstone on the south loop road,
stopping to watch Old Faithful erupt one more time. The
Grand Tttons and Yellowstone abut as National Parks, so there is
no "gate" between the two. On the way south to the Titons
we rode by this lake, that looked like I expected Yellowstone
lake to be, frozen over. This had to be lower, it must
have remained frozen because it is shallower. There was no
information nearby so I have to guess. |
This
was our sleeping quarters (the half closest to us, it was a
duplex). It was part of the park and somewhat rustic, no
television but a micro wave and refrigerator and walking
distance between the bed and the wall.
It was, however, appropriate. |

This is the view of the Titons from the porch of our cabin,
looking across Lake Jenny. Read up on the geology of these
mountains, their still rising, albeit not very rapidly. |

As we left headed toward Jackson Hole, we stopped at the viewing
points. This one looked toward the two peaks that give the
range it's name. It's French, look it up.
The snow in the center of the picture between the two peaks is a
glacier, slowing moving downhill. |

Our only "disappointment" on the trip was Jackson Hole. We
drove through it on the way back to Salt Lake City. It's a
modern little town trying to look old west. It's all
plastic. |

Apparently this Arch constructed of Elk Antlers is famous.
It's the entrance to the town square at Jackson Hole.
North of Jackson hole is the winter grazing grounds for the Elk.
