We traveled to Yellowstone in May of 2012. It was early spring there, ice was on the edges of the lakes and the week after we were there it snowed. Our trip began by flying to Salt Lake City, renting a care and driving to Pacotello, Idaho where we spent the night. The next morning we drove to Craters of the Moon National Monument, saw the sights there and drove on to West Yellowstone, Montana. We arrived early enough to enter the park an see Elk and Buffalo. Sandra and I couldn't remember which day we did what so instead of organizing our Yellowstone portion of the trip by day, I've done it by geographic region. We spent three days at Yellowstone, then drove to Grand Teton National Monument where we spent one night, then back to Salt Lake City through Jackson Hole. While at Salt Lake City we traveled to the Bonneville Salt Flats. To start your tour of this web site, begin by clicking the tab for Craters of the Moon below.
(I found a web site sponsored by the National Park service that linked to YouTube videos of the various geysers. When I found a decent video of the geysers we saw and that are included in this web site, I linked to them. There was an over abundance of videos on Old Faithful erupting, but there were plenty of videos, a lot of geysers we didn't get a chance to see erupt, some we didn't even get to. If you'd like to see how vast the number of geysers are located at Yellowstone click here. )
